August

Written By:  Andrew Eide

August has several meanings. One of them, of course, is the 8th month of our calendar. The other definition defines something that is inspiring, admired, supreme, or majestic. I will talk about these today.

The most obvious definition of the word August is depicted in the graphic image above. It represents the 8th month of the Gregorian calendar which we in the United States commonly use as our annual calendar.

The other definition of august appears in the dictionary and I will give you the definitions and examples quoted directly from the dictionary.

AUGUST means something that is inspiring, reverent, and admired. It can be something of extreme dignity or grandeur. It can refer to something or someone who is majestic.

AUGUST can also mean something that is eminent meaning something about to happen very soon.

That’s pretty much all there is concerning the word august.

At the time I drafted up this initial blog article for August, which I prepared in December 2015, I only had this one blog article drafted up. Between December 2015 and August 2016 I’m sure I will come up with other items to write blog articles about.

So after this post to start off August 2016 if you see additional posts then you will know that I was able to come up with other august-related items to write about.
