Chadwicks of Boston is a major catalog sales company and
they have been around for a long time. However their customer service is
horrible and due to what they did to me I will never shop them again. Here is
my story.
It was in the mid-1990’s we ordered several items from Chadwicks of Boston. I tried to tell my wife to go
into stores to purchase items as you can see the items and try them on. I told
her when you order from a catalog, or online, you often get the wrong item, wrong
color, wrong size, or some other problem.
When the items arrived most of it was the wrong size,
wrong color, and the dress she ordered didn’t fit. I sent the items back and
told them to issue a refund to my credit card I used on my account.
After two weeks I had no refund on my credit card so I
called Chadwicks of Boston. They told me a credit was issued. I told them no
credit was received.
After five minutes they came back on the phone to tell me
they issued the credit to some other Chadwicks of Boston customer. So I told
them that’s their problem and demanded they credit my credit card for the
refund.
Chadwicks of Boston’s response shocked me. They said they
could NOT process the credit back to my credit card until they recover the
money they wrongfully credited to another customer. I told them that was stupid
but they said that’s how they had to do it.
I wanted two more weeks and still no credit returned to
my credit card. I called Chadwicks of Boston again and again they guaranteed me
they credited back to my credit card. After a five minute wait they told me
they again sent the credit to the other customer they previously wrongfully credited
my refund to and did it again a second time.
I told them if I didn’t have the credit back to my credit
card in one week they would be sued. I got my credit back within one week and I
vowed never to shop at Chadwicks of Boston again.
