Today I’m likely to irk a hell of a lot of people
including family members who are Doctors and Nurses and who work in Oncology
which is the study and treatment of cancer.
When I lived in Redlands, California, my last wife, who
passed away in July 2009, had cancer. She was scheduled to see Doctor Godfrey
at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California.
While walking my dog, Lucky, I came across my friend who
asked how my wife was doing and if she was going to see an Oncologist. I told
them yes and gave them Doctor Godfrey’s name. Then they told me this story.
They said a friend of theirs had cancer and was referred
to Oncology at Loma Linda University Medical Center to see Doctor Godfrey. Their
friend related the story that when Doctor Godfrey came into the room he yelled
at him rudely and said (I am paraphrasing what he said here): “WHY ARE YOU HERE? YOUR CANCER IS TOO FAR
GONE FOR ME TO TREAT YOU! YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET HELPED BY ANY TREATMENT! YOU
ARE WASTING MY TIME! GET OUT OF MY OFFICE!”
I asked my friend if this doctor was reported to the
Board of Directors at Loma Linda University Medical Center for his insensitive
and rude treatment of a patient. My friend told me there are dozens of complaints
about Doctor Godfrey but the other Board members refuse to take action against
Doctor Godfrey because he is a high ranking Board member, a high amount
financial donor to Loma Linda University Medical Center, so they look the other
way even though he abuses patients.
I feel Doctor Godfrey should have been removed from Loma
Linda University Medical Center and should have had his Medical License revoked
by the State of California.
My friend then related to me that their friend went to
Cancer Treatment Centers of America just outside of Los Angeles for treatment.
Although their friend is not “cured” of cancer they were able to get it into
remission which means it is not getting worse.
Don’t take abuse from doctors even if they are a
specialist as often they are there for the money and not for the benefit of the
patient.
